The 2004 Clarion Award was presented to James Caviezel for his reverent and transfixing portrayal of Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. And for bringing the strength of his personal faith and authenticity of devotion to this powerful performance, depicting the sacrifice and love of Christ for each of us. Caviezel was unable to attend the October 23, 2004 presentation and was recently presented the award by Fr. Wilfred Raymond, CSC, National Director of Family Theater Productions in Hollywood.
The Clarion Award, established in 1995, recognizes individuals for a timely contribution to Catholic communications through the following: Organizational service; Creativity in a communications effort or project; Recent service to a diocese, institution or religious order; Recognition of a personal or career milestone; An ecumenical achievement or industry contibution. Members as well as non-members of the Catholic Academy are eligible for this membership award.
